- Account Data: name, email / phone number, profile photo, date of birth, gender, biography, occupation.
- Authentication Data: One-time codes (OTP) sent to your device, Supabase user ID and tokens.
- Location Data: precise geolocation (lat/lon) when you choose to see nearby activities or host one.
- Content You Provide: activity details, chat messages, photos and comments.
- Usage Data: log files, device identifiers, IP address, browser type, language, referral URLs, in-app interactions, crash reports.
- Push Tokens: Apple, Firebase or Expo push notification tokens and your notification preferences.
2. How We Use Your Information
We process your data to:
- Provide & maintain the Service (create accounts, display nearby activities, deliver chats).
- Match you with relevant activities using your location, interests, gender and selected categories.
- Send transactional notifications (messages, join requests, activity updates) according to your preferences.
- Improve and personalise the Service, develop new features and conduct analytics.
- Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and safety incidents; enforce our Terms.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal Bases
We rely on the following legal grounds under the EU GDPR:
- Contract: processing necessary to perform the agreement with you.
- Legitimate Interests: to keep Joyn safe and improve the Service.
- Consent: for precise location, push notifications and marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time in the app settings.
- Legal Obligation: when required to comply with applicable laws.
4. Sharing of Information
We share or disclose your data:
- With other users when you create an activity, join one or send messages.
- With service providers that help us operate Joyn (Supabase hosting, cloud storage, analytics, push notification gateways).
- With law enforcement or regulators when legally required or to protect rights, property and safety.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, provided the successor honours this Policy.
5. International Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries outside your jurisdiction where our suppliers are located. We rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Data Retention
We keep your personal data for as long as necessary to provide and improve the Service. At this time Joyn does not offer an in-app option to delete your data, and copies may be retained indefinitely in backups.
7. Security
We implement technical and organisational measures such as encryption in transit, role-level security (RLS) policies and access controls to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, and the right to data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
9. Children
Joyn is not directed to children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child without parental consent, we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or email.
